Abstract

The prodn. of structural parts having improved mechanical strength and which can be carburized and heat treated, is described in the parent patent. The addition of Ni to the prealloyed steel powder is not necessary as the Ni content of 0.3% is provided by the Ni impurities introduced during prodn. The steel powder consists of =0.5 wt. % C, 0.8-5.0 pref. 1.0-5.0 wt. % Cu, 0.1-0.7 wt. % Mo, =0.6 wt. % Mn, balance being Fe and usual impurities.
