Abstract

An intermediate composite connecting piece made of Al or Cu joined to steel, is used to join the two conductors by welding like materials together, the connecting piece is made by explosion plating. The Al or Cu is pref. welded to the connector first, after which the steel is welded in position, the end of the connector facing the Al or Cu conductor pref. has a cross section equal to, or larger than the matching face of that conductor. The joint has excellent conductivity and retains its high strength, it is easy to make.
