Abstract

A liquid level transducer may be used directly in the supply or drain pipes from the bottom of the tank in which the liquid level is to be controlled. Essentially, the device consists of an air-tight chamber to the bottom of which the liquid concerned has access. This is mounted on the drain pipe at the base of the tank or system. As the pressure of the liquid changes, so does the level of the surface in the airtight chamber, according to a relationship depending on the pressure of the air in that chamber. Two electrodes in the chamber detect when the liquid level reaches a point requiring some action.
