Abstract

Impregnation of wood with a protective liquid esp. Antirot treatment, takes place under partial vacuum in a chamber where the pressure is raised to at least atmos. level so that liquid is sucked into the wood cells. Whilst the wood is immersed in the liquid it is subjected to shock waves which compress the wood to at least its elastic deformation limit. The violent deformation and flexing of the wod cell structure ensure a more thorough impregnation.
