Abstract

The device has sealing ring segments between the moving mechanical part and the area where the changes undergone by the gas take place. A moving part reduces the dead volume under the piston and forms a running surface for the sealing segments. There is a difference between the inlet volume and the working volume so that the air or gas taken in under the piston will expand by coming into contact with the warm surfaces. The exhaust gas heat may be used for gas pre-heating, a precompression being applied to the inlet gases to compensate for the expansion caused by the preheating.
