Abstract

After the two tubes (1) and (3) are screwed together a threaded sealing ring (6) of a suitable plastic material and mounted on the male tube end is screwed against the sealing ring (6). The front face of the collar has a tapered counterbore pressing the sealing ring (6) into the bottom of the screw threads, and against the slightly inclined radial end face of the outer tube. The tapered counterbore exerts a progressively increasing radial pressure on the outer face of the sealing ring. The joint is easily and rapidly assembled and provides a reliable seal.
