Abstract

Temp.-sensitive polymer compsns. contain a polymer (I) having solubility parameter 8.5-15 (9-13) and cholesterolic mesomorphic material (II) uniformly distributed in (I) as fine droplets pref. having size 0.1-100 (0.5)mu. Pref. wt. ratio (II):(I) is 1:50 to 5:1 (1:40 to 2:1). Products (i) can have good flexibility and strength and can be contacted intimately with articles, e.g. human body; (ii) resist water and chemicals; (iii) (I) is protected by matrix of (I); (iv) products are clear, spectral colour changes are easily observed or monitored; (v) prod. has sufficient heat-conductivity to allow resolution of temp. gradients and finding of blodd vessels or inflammation zones.
