Abstract

The oscillating mirror system for television cameras etc. has a mirror (4) inclined at 45 deg. to allow the camera (1) to view an object (2) at right angles to its optical axis. The mirror is attached to a vertical rod (24) and is rotated backwards and forwards between two end positions (A, B) by a drive mechanism. The drive mechanism consists of two rotating discs (9, 14) linked and synchronised by a chain (19). Each disc is coupled via a linkage rod (8, 13) to a slider (6, 11) which runs along a rail (7, 12) parallel to the camera optical axis (3). The two sliders are linked by a pivoted rod (10). The rod supporting the mirror is mounted on one end of this last mentioned rod.
