Abstract

Deodorant compsn. for cosmetics contains 0.1-20 wt. % of an organic deodorant (I), a propellant (for aerosols) and/or a thickener, where (I) in equilibrium with 1/9 of its wt. of morpholine (II) at 37 degrees C is able to reduce the partial vapour pressure of (II) to >65% (80%) of pure (II). The compsn. is effective without addition of astringents, anti-sweating agents and germicides in preventing body odours by reducing vapour pressure of the odours and also preventing staining of clothes. (I) is 0.5-10 wt. % of the compsn. and is a 2-10 C aliphatic straight chain cpd. having 20H gps. per chain e.g. ethane, propane, butane, pentane, hexane, heptane, decane-diols e.g. 2-methyl-2,4 pentanediol.
