Abstract

Lateral doors (2a)(2b) run the length of the body. These are hollow and have slits (3a)(3b) in the exterior walls and longitudinal slits (4a)(4b) in the interior walls. The doors act as ducts (5a)(5b) for inspired and cooling air for the engine/compressor unit. Door (2a) is for inspiration and (2b) for cooling air. The air thus goes from slit (3a) to slit (4a) for door (2a) and from slit (3b) to slit (4b) for door (2b). Passageways (5a) and (5b) have chicanes (6) to attenuate sound. This is added to by sprayed insulation on passageways (5a) and (5b). Slits (3a) and (3b) run the length of the doors to avoid rain entry and to distribute the sound.
