Abstract

A non-woven net is formed by threading pref. several yarns alternately around retaining hooks of two parallel feed chains using a traverse guide to form diagonal net structure. Each retaining hook has a downwardly directed hook portion and a shank inclined in the advance direction of the chains. No part of the hook extends outwardly of the associated chain and pref. the hook is inclined inwardly of two chains. Pref. the travese guide follows an arcuate path whereby it is spaced a maximum distance from the net-structure in the central region and pref. a rubber coated moving belt co-operates with the hooks of one chain to maintain the yarns in position and a stationary glass rod co-operates with the hooks of the other chain to maintain the yarns in position. The net structure may be advanced togeher with longitudinally extending parallel yarns between two facing webs pre-coated with adhesive. The net is produced at high production rates.
