Abstract

The purpose of the process is to sow seed by the direct or sod seeding method which involves minimal soil disturbance, and therefore minimal water loss. The fundamental idea is the retention of an unbroken layer of soil above the the layer of broken soil in such a way as to leave the areas for optimum growth undisturbed. This is achieved by using a vertical stem of narrow section (16). At the lower end of the vertical stem is a horizontal blade (14) so arranged as to draw the soil turner downwards into the soil. These two components are attached to a support (12).
