Abstract

The pulley cheeks (1) and (2) have an equal number of internal grooves (11) and (12), of great radius of curvature compared to pulley radius, arranged in opposite pairs to cross each other at a constant angle no matter what the relative angular position of the two cheeks. One cheek (1) is solidly mounted on the pulley bush whilst the other cheek (2) is free to rotate. Trapezoidal blocks (3) are fitted at each intersection point by pins (31) and (32) engaging in opposite pairs of grooves, two pins on one side of each block engage one groove to prevent block rotation. When cheek (2) is rotated relatively to cheek (1) all blocks move an equal amount radially.
