Abstract

The circuit for the current rectifier of an electrically heated furnace has a current regulator preceding the control circuit. The control circuit receives a demand and an actual signal which are compared and the error used to adjust the load. In the event of one or more of the thyristors from a group dropping out of circuit, then a signal representing the operational conditions is derived and transmitted to the regulator. A fault would cause the current regulator preceding the control circuit to produce a reduction in the value of the desired current.
