Abstract

The invention concerns the loss of sound insulation that results from the creation of cavities and voids in a wall to receive cables or other services. The compensation for the cavity is effected by installing a crescent shaped plug (4) of heavy material such as lead at the back of the cavity. Alternatively the curved section cavity may be formed as a square section which is covered on its internal walls by a plastic channel. Attached to the base of the channel is a symmetrical lead weight. The weight has tapering wings which extend through the wall from the cavity base to the wall surface.
