Abstract
A seismic testing power of compressed gas type with a high pressure chamber to hold a charge, a piston closing one end of the chamber, which is held in position by high pressure gas in a chamber on its opposite side, and means to release the charge without the generation of secondary bubble impulses. This may be effected by control of the outlet aperture dimensions with a large ratio of width to length, and the provision of an auxiliary piston. Outlet chamber is equal to auxiliary chamber volume.
