Abstract

Each upright is a thin-walled hollow tube with four slots, at the top at the same height as the sleeve flanges, but can be of different widths. The plates which are inserted into the slots are previously soldered into a symmetrical cross. Alternatively, a mandrel is inserted into the top of the tube so that the plates can be soldered to the tube and to the mandrel. One, two, three or four plates may be used as required. After the sleeve and tube have been joined, the plates are very easily hinged to girders and uprights. The number of different components is low, thereby facilitating assembly, maintenance and dismantling.
