Abstract

The transfer mechanism is suitable for handling fragile objects which are fed at high speed between processes such as packing. The objects assumed here as bottles are fed in a pipe to a position (2a) on a rotary conveyor. When the rotary conveyor has completed one revolution, the bottle is now located at (4a) immediately below its first position. At this point the bottle is transferred to the larger rotary conveyor. This transfer is effected without shock to the object although the feed tube remains full for maximum rate of feed. The rotary conveyor receiving the bottles from the pipe has a ramp around its circumference which progressively drops the bottle as the conveyor rotates.
