Abstract

Reinforced mouldings are made by coating a mould cavity with a gel coat, superimposing successively on to the gel coat a layer of glass cloth, a layer of sisal fibres, and a second layer of glass cloth, impregnating the textile layers with an activated resin, and fitting a flexible cover to the mould to permit degassing under a vacuum. Method is suitable for moulding panels or bodies for e.g., caravans, boats, wagons, containers, etc., involving complex patterns of curvature, esp. if bounded by a lip or rim at right angles to the general plan of the profile.
