Abstract

A bed for hospital use having a mattress frame capable of being tilted about a central pivot. A subframe inside the mattress frame can also be inclined relative to the mattress frame. A main body (3) has castors for mobility. Inside is a frame (2) to carry the mattress and pivoted (25) centrally about its longer side. It is normally locked in a level position but can be tilted using an adjusting mechanism (30, 32, 38, 40). A smaller subframe (5) is fitted inside the mattress frame and pivoted (6) to this at one end. When required, this can be inclined using a simple combined adjusting and locking mechanism (8, 9, 10).
