Abstract

The ground vehicle or helicopter carries on an extended arm, a device for imparting pressure waves on the ground. The extended arm ensures that the mine clearing apparatus is a certain distance away from the supporting vehicle. The supporting frame transmits pulsating movement to the rams in contact with the ground. This pulsating movement can be generated by hydraulic equipment. The rams are reciprocated in the vertical direction and they pound the ground for breaking up or exploding the mines. A number of such rams can be suspended from an overhanging support structure. The rams are mounted flexibly so that even if a mine explodes the ram is moved upwards without effecting the actuating mechanism. This highly efficient method can be used on underwater mines.
