Abstract

The caliper sits astride the brake disc and has its central portion cut away to receive the pad supports. The supports are held in place by a rigid rectangular plate positioned to lie with one edge of its downward face on the tops of the supports and the other edge against the face of the caliper cut-out normal to the surface of the brake disc. The plate is held by a piece of spring steel fixed to the caliper body. A rigid tube may be substituted for the plate, the tube being split to provide a spring action and held in place by a pivoting cover plate.
