Abstract
Paper insulation is wound round a carrier such as a metal tube, condenser foils being inserted between layers. The insulation is vacuum-impregnated with epoxide resin so as to be self-supporting, and the carrier is removed. At least the conical end of this insulation core is immersed in a cryogenic medium such as liq. helium. The outermost layer is earthed, the innermost layer is connected to a metal flange at the top of the bushing. A suitable rating for the bushing is 200 kV at 50Hz.
