Abstract
The remelting plant employs two similar electrode gps. each consisting >=2 electrodes which are connected to one end of the sec. of a single phase transformer, the centre tapping of which is connected to the ingot base plate and the mould. The novelty is that adjacent electrodes have opposite polarity and pref. are equally spaced apart by 0.1-2.0 times the electrode thickness. This arrangement reduces heat transfer between electrodes and avoids intense oxidation and flows in the ingots.
