Abstract

New esters are of formula (I) (where R1 and R2 are 1-8C aliphatic (halo)hydrocarbyl, >=1 of which is halogen-substd; R is a branched or linear 3-15C hydrocarbyl gp opt. contg. an ether O atom or substd by a halogen atom or a functional gp. contg. a halogen and/or ether O atom). (I) are prepd by reacting a phosphoric ester amide with a trihydric alcohol at 50-200 degrees C under an inert gas and opt. in an inert solvent. They are effective flame retardants, even when added in small amts and are not detrimental to the physical and electrical props of plastics prods.
