Abstract

Torque wrench, simple and economic, emits a noise indicating that the desired torque has been produced, the noise resulting from a cambered outwardly return ended leaf spring (10) which is supported between twin mobile knife edges. Knife edges describe major and minor circular arcs, one knife edge being the end of a resonantly encased lever (12) reciprocating about the point of radial co-alignment. Wrench operation causes divergence of wrench lever arms 1 & 3 and thus causes the spring (10) to approach and pass this point of radial co-alignment which is also point of maximum spring compression whence the lever (12) strikes the casing wall, rebounds and produces the noise.
