Modular dwellings step built to natural gradients provide economic accommodation with common internal access core for each double tier and via screening privacy for each cell. One floor dwellings long rectangles in outline section overlap step fashion to a pref. angle of 40 deg. to the horizontal, the exposed flat roof of one floor forming the terrace for the floor above and having a upwardly sloping screen(2) emanating from the terrace front edge to obscure the view of lower terraces. Side screens(8) are also provided when bays stagger in plan, natural slopes of less than 40 deg. are traversed by say four tiered horizontally spaces modules and items such as a swimming pool(5) can be provided for each module.
