Abstract

A plastic material contg. carbon is prepd. by adding cpds. of metals or semi-metals, or their solns. to synthetic resins or to dispersions to solns. of synthetic resins. The amt. of metal or semilmetal added should be equiv. to one atom per molecule of synthetic resin. After mixing, reducing agents or thermal decompsn. is used to form the metal or semi-metal atoms, and the ions formed or still present are removed by washing. Graphite or lampblack is then added to the dispersion, soln. or granulate, followed by further treatment. Pref. metal cpds. include an aq. soln. of AgNO3 contg. 0.5-1.5% AgNO3 w.r.t. the synthetic resin, nickel sulphate and ammonium molybdate. Pref. the semi-metal is AS.
