Abstract
The regulator consists of a valve which is connected to a number of electrical contacts, depending upon the position of the valve, actuated by a permanent magnet located on the balance arm of the valve. The valve is fitted with a return spring or counterweight. The inside of the valve is fitted with guide vanes to prevent turbulence which affects the position of the valve. Steam or other conditioning gases are injected into the line to maintain the correct gas condition. The position of the butterfly valve is proportional to the flow and pressure and temperature may also be monitored through the electrical contacts. The mechanism has a sufficiently quick response to meet the normal variations in flow conditions.
