Abstract

The fore sail boom (1) is fitted with a hook (2) forming part of a member (3) which is provided with an oblique hole housing a piston (4) which is loaded by a spring (5). The end of the piston rod carries a ring (6) to which the wire rope or cordage (7) is attached. The rope (7) is used to control the boom movement. This method of attachment gives access to the piston (4) from the opposite side of the boom to the cordage (7). Also no part of the device projects beyond the end of the boom. The projecting piston also forms a locking arm for the entrance to the hook.
