Abstract

A dispensing pump for delivering measured quantities of e.g. edible substances, has a sliding block (14) which travels between staggered vertical supply and discharge ports (9, 12). An elongated depression (15) on the top face bridges the ports to permit flow through to a chamber on the suction stroke of a piston (2), and a hole (16) through the block permits discharge from the outlet on the return stroke. The travel of the block and the piston are controlled by two pneumatic pistons (4, 25), one above the other, which can be controlled by a pair of cams. The trowel of the piston (2) can be adjusted by means of locking screws (31, 32) located at the end of the housing, thus controlling the quantity discharged during each stroke.
