Abstract

Protective pad for menstrual periods consists of a core of flexible highly absorbent material, contd. in a sheath of knitted material permeable to fluid, and has a covering piece of material consisting of a mixt. of a staple fibre with a thermoplastic synthetic fitted between the core and the sheath on the side which is against an undergarment. The sheath and the covering piece are longer than the core and are turned over and heat sealed with a pair of hot tongs. A piece of adhesive material is then applied longitudinally, allowing the protective pad to be secured to an undergarment by simple press. The protective pad is fixed securely to the undergarment, no means of attachment such as strings are needed, has an impermeable cover, and is comfortable to wear and readily accessible.
