Abstract
The optical system comprises two superimposed colinear coherent light beams. The first from an impulse laser, partic. a ruby laser, which is triggered synchronously with a second laser, partic. a dye laser. The difference in frequency between the two coherent beams is equal to the excitation frequency of the molecules of the gas to be determined. The superimposed colinear beams are passed through a sample of the gas to analysed in order to generate a Stokes ray which is colinear with the coherent ray. The resulting beam, after optical filtration, is focussed on the discrete point of the gas to be determined, and then the frequency of the resulting anti-Stokes beam which is proportional to the mol-concentration of the gas is made visible by optical filtration and projection on a photographic plate.
