Abstract

A chair with a back which folds down to form the seat of a high stool. The seat frame (1) has a short arm (12) at the back to form one hinge joint (4) and has a seat cushion (3) at the same level. The seat back (2) also has a short arm (13) at its base which completes the hinge. This back has fixed cushions (5, 6) on both sides. The alteration from chair to stool is made by closing the back onto the seat (F). A stop (14) to hold the seat back in the open position is formed by the two hinge arms butting together. The cushions may be a foam material, with a lining between the foam layers and the frames, the main frame being polygonal in form.
