Abstract

The machine consists of a mobile frame on either side of which are mounted burners. The machine can be provided with a cutter to deal with the weeds between the rows, the burners being for the destruction of weeds in the immediate vicinity of the crop. THe burners are provided with shields, in the form of rings around the flames to prevent damage to the crop and are mounted on pivots provided with return springs, so that on contacting the crop, the circular shield and flame are pushed aside until they have passed the obstruction, when they return to the normal position.
