Abstract

To lower smoke production and to assure complete combustion of hydrocarbons at low flows, water is injected coaxially into the flame through two radially spaced separate circular groups of nozzles. The two groups have different numbers of nozzles spaced by different angles and by using them separately or together three different flows of pressurized water are obtainable. When hydrocarbon flow is small a minimum number of nozzles operate, thus ensuring a deep penetration of the flame by water. The discharge angles of the nozzles differ by a few degrees for the inner and outer groups.
