Abstract

The power charge is contained in an annular chamber in the projectile before firing, and the firearm barrel is tapered so as to distort the projectile on firing. The wider rear part of the projectile has a wall comprising a series of grooves joined by ribs. During firing the wall distorts to form a solid whole of which the core has a smooth surface. The grooves pref. extend alternately on the inner and outer surfaces of the rear wall and are separated by single ribs.
