Abstract

The digital coder consists of an adder to add the sine of the angle either to its cosine or its sign-inverted cosine. The sign conversion is determined by two switches controlled by logic and selecting either the input or output of a sign inverter. The adder output is passed to a division cct. to form the code value which is then stored. The switching logic is controlled by the outputs of two comparators which compare the angle sine and cosine with a constant reference voltage to determine which is the greater, thus keeping the final code value positive.
