Abstract

1301115 Selective signalling THORN AUTOMATION Ltd 30 Dec 1969 63348/69 Heading G4H The range of operation of a single-quadrant sine function encoder is extended to 360 degrees by applying the least significant N-2 bits of a binary coded N-bit digital signal representing an angle in the range 0 to 360 degrees to the encoder either in true or inverted form, in accordance with the quadrant in which the angle lies as determined from the second most significant bit, and by giving its output a sign determined by the most significant bit. As described the encoder, of which no details are given, produces a digital output which is converted to analogue form in a conventional manner (Fig. 2, not shown) by switching the rungs of a ladder.
