Abstract

The appts is formed on a vehicle whose drive engine powers a generator which drives firstly a chain conveyor pivoting about the front of the vehicle and controlled by two hydraulic rams. This conveyor leads to a horiz. section within the melting chamber where the melting snow falls through a grid formed from metal tubes carrying heated water. The melted snow is received within a bank of tanks at the base of the vehicle. The tanks are evacuated by a pump powered by the generator which also heats the heated water.
