Abstract
The material e.g. metal is atomised horizontally at a predetermined speed in a stagnant gaseous medium which is maintained at a chosen press. >=1 pref. >2 atmos and at a chosen temp. within a range the m.pt. of the atomised material to form particles in the gaseous medium. The gas e.g. CO2 has a viscosity/density ratio at the chosen temp. and press. that of air at atmos. press. and at the chosen temp., so that the solid particles have an ave. log dia. that of particles which would be formed by projecting the same liq. at the same speed in air at atmos. press. and at the chosen temp.
