Abstract

A cloud of finely divided particles of the lubricant (e.g. paraffin wax), with size 10mu is formed in a reservoir and then fed into two chambers, the second of which is an electrostatic chamber where the particles are charged and conc. in a narrow zone. The metal e.g. Al sheet or strip, is passed through the two chambers and is thus coated with the lubricant. The cloud pref. consists of liq. particles which solidify on the metal and is pref. an org. cpd. with low m.pt. or a mixt. of such cpds. The advantage is that a uniform coating of lubricant is obtd. at high speed.
