Abstract

Prepn of an intestinal disinfectant by sowing a maize starch/amino acid/CaCO3 medium with Clostridium butyricum miyairi, growing the organism until spores are formed, and proparing the disinfectant from the bacterial spores. The organisms, also known as lactobacillus, is antagonistic to shig-dysenteriae, shig, flexneri, Salmonella typhi, staph. aureus. E. coli and others. The process gives improved yields of spores.
