Abstract

In a floating torch for flaring off gases coming from an undersea oil well; comprising a chimney for burning the gases fixed to a buoy with positive buoyancy so that its upper end is maintained above the water surface, anchoring means for the buoy and means for the transport of the gases from the sea bed oil well of the chimney, the improvement whereby the means of transport for the gases simultaneously acts as anchoring means and is formed by >=1 flexible-water-and gas-tight main pipe, one end of which is fixed to the buoy and is directly connected to the chimney, while the other end is connected to an installation fixed relatively to the sea bed and is also connected to the under water oil well installation. The flexible main pipe pref. has a length at least equal to the distance between the sea bed and the surface of the water, so that the buoy floats on the water.
