Abstract
The cemented carbide, esp. nickel-bonded titanium carbide opt. contg. molybdenum carbide, but also cobalt-bonded titanium, tungsten or tantalum carbides, is coated with a metal, e.g. Fe, Ni or Co which is wettable by Cu or brazing alloy. Spec. coating methods are (a) deposition from gas phase using e.g. the metal fluoride or chloride, or (b) electrodeposition or chemical deposition from aq. phase followed by vacuum diffusion treatment at 1100-1200 degrees C. Process facilitates brazing of carbide tools to steel holders.
