Abstract

For the welding of hollow workpieces under inert gas, liquefied gas is introduced into the workpiece interior and directed in jets against the weld zone. The liquefied gas is pref. passed into a distribution chamber in the workpiece interior from whence it is passed into perforated tubes with suitable spraying apertures. The system results in higher inert gas concn. in the weld zone. The system is mainly intended for seam welded tube manufacture.
