Abstract

Insulant based on glass 'eskapon' lacquered fabric (I) and mica, bonded with a binder, has the lacquer film of (I) modified with organo-Si cpds. in an amt. =30% of the wt. of the substrate, whilst the binder for bonding and impregnating the mica consists of a mixt. of liquid synthetic rubber, butanolysed phenol-formaldehyde resin and mineral or vegetable oil, in an amt. 5-30% w.r.t. the wt. of the substrate. It can be used e.g. for insulating connecting leads, bus bars electric motor windings, armature sections, pole and switch coils, band rings etc., often in the form of adhesive tape. The material is elastic and mechanically strong and has high electrical insulating properties.
