Abstract

Electrochemical generator has a negative electrode e.g. of Zn, Mg, Pb, Cd and/or Fe, an aq. electrolyte (alkali, buffered salt, or acid), and a positive electrode whose active material comprises a carbox fluoride (CFx)n (pref x = 1) and a wetting agent compatible with the electrolyte. Spec. for alkaline electrolytes, the agent is ethanol, CCl4, CHCl3, THF, isopropyldimethyl carbinol and polyether alcohols, sulphonates and sulphates. For acids a matl "Triton X100" (RTM) is used. Additionally metaborate buffered Zn, Mg and NH4 salt solns. can be used as electrolyte. Low wt. anode of high specific energy is produced.
