Abstract

Cylindrical or tapered cardboard containers with rolled lips which are subsequently compressed to provide a horizontal surface of sufficient area to offer adequate anchorage for an adhesive bonded cover. Pref. the clamping tool used to flatten the roll lip rotates w.r.t. the container axis; the (Al) cover has an internal coating of polyethylene 20-30 mu thick applied after 1-3 mins heating at 225-150 degrees C. For packaging semi-liq. materials which require a better seal against leakage or aeration than a mechanically fitted cover.
