Abstract
Appts. consists of a cylindrical cathode closed by upper and lower end walls, the former providing a peripheral outlet passage and a central inlet passage within which is located the anode; mounted on the lower wall is an impeller which draws in solution through the inlet and causes it to follow a helical path over the cathode surface to the outlet. Pref. the impeller is coupled magnetically to a motor mounted in a base on which the electrolytic cell stands. The cell is used partic. for treating spent plating baths or photographic or radiographic fixing solns.
